Interest income and expenses Interest income and expense are recognized using the effective interest method. The effective interest rate is the rate that exactly discounts the estimated future cash payments and receipts through the expected life of the financial asset or liability (or, where appropriate, a shorter period) to the carrying amount of the financial asset or liability. The effective interest rate is established on initial recognition of the financial asset and liability and is not revised subsequently. The calculation of the effective interest rate includes all fees and points paid or received transaction costs, and discounts or premiums that are an integral part of the effective interest rate. Transaction costs are incremental costs that are directly attributable to the acquisition, issue or disposal of a financial asset or liability except for the financial assets at fair value through profit or loss. Trading income/expense Trading income/expense includes gains and losses arising from disposals of financial assets held for trading purpose and available-for-sale financial assets. Trading income and trading expenses are recognized as “Income from disposal of financial assets” and “Loss from disposal of financial assets” in the accompanying consolidated financial statements. Dividends Dividend income is recognized when the Group’s right to receive payment is ascertained. 2.22 Leasing transactions Tangible assets acquired by way of finance leasing are recognised in tangible assets and the obligations under finance leases arising from the lease contracts are presented under finance lease payables account in the financial statements. In the determination of the related assets and liabilities, the lower of the fair value of the leased asset and the present value of leasing payments is considered. Financial costs of leasing agreements are expanded in lease periods at a fixed interest rate. If there is impairment in the value of the assets obtained through financial lease and in the expected future benefits, the leased assets are valued with net realisable value. Depreciation for assets obtained through financial lease is calculated in the same manner as tangible assets. 199 2023 Annual Report GENERAL INFORMATION FINANCIAL RIGHTS PROVIDEDTOTHE MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BODY AND SENIOR EXECUTIVES RISKS AND ASSESSMENT OF THE GOVERNING BODY ACTIVITIES AND MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS RELATED TO ACTIVITIES RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES FINANCIAL STATUS FINANCIAL INFORMATION
